What is EMP ?
A two-month initiative focused on pediatric medicine. High school students are paired with mentors who guide them through the process of researching a medical topic of their choice. Over the course of the program, mentees produced a full research paper and designed a professional research poster, gaining first-hand experience in academic writing, critical analysis, and presentation.
"I really liked my overall EMP experience as I had a lot of time to work on my research paper and poster while balancing school work. I felt lots of enjoy doing research on a topic I was passionate and interesting about."
"Very educational. It gave me the encouragement to explore interesting and relevant topics as someone interested in pediatrics. I was able to accomplish in depth research with the accountability it provided."
"The overall experience was great. I feel like I have a better understanding of how to structure a poster and research paper as well as where to start in research. For a lot of people, finding the starting the research process is difficult since it isn’t really taught to us where to begin. However, this program provides that blueprint that I thought was really helpful."
